The famous Basler Läckerli cookie in the original 1kg bag
for a long lasting experience.
The Secret of Tradition
The specialty cookies have been produced in Basel since the 14th
century. The “gingerbread bakers” who made them and
who were later called “sugar bakers” belonged to the
Saffron Guild. This fine cookie, named “Basler Läckerli”,
has carried the international reputation of the city famed for its
humanist ideals into the world for many years. But what is so special
about the “Basler Läckerli”? The delicious ingredients
– flour, honey, almonds, hazelnuts, orange and lemon peel,
special spices and a dash of kirsch (cherry schnapps) – partly
explains their success, but there is also a secret twist to the
way the Läckerli-Huus put them together, thus ensuring your
Basler Läckerli lose non of their flavour and quality. Incidentally,
if you prefer your Läckerli slightly softer, just leave the
tin or jar open for a short time in a place with a high ambient
humidity.
